The Curse of the Black Spot - synopsis

The BBC Press office have released the synopsis for episode three of Series 6, The Curse of the Black Spot. Read it below:

The TARDIS is marooned onboard a 17th-century pirate ship whose crew is being attacked by a mysterious and beautiful sea creature, as the time-travelling drama continues.

Becalmed and beset by cabin fever, the pirates have numerous superstitious explanations for the Siren's appearance. The Doctor has other ideas but, as his theories are disproved and every plan of escape is thwarted, he must work to win the trust of the implacable Captain Avery and uncover the truth behind the pirates' supernatural fears – and he must work quickly, for some of his friends have already fallen under the Siren's spell...

Series 6 episode titles

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out in the UK tomorrow numbered 433, includes some new titles for the upcoming series including some replacements for titles previously announced. They are:
Episode 3: The Curse of the Black Spot
Episode 4: The Doctor's Wife
Episode 6: The Almost People (formerly Gangers)
Episode 7: A Good Man Goes To War (formerly Demon's Run)
Currently the Mark Gatiss episode, number 9 at the moment, is titled What Are Little Boys Made Of? This is subject to change of course. Episode 11, as already announced, is The God Complex by Toby Whithouse and stars David Walliams. The magazine also features a full episode preview of The Impossible Astronaut and an interview with Steven Moffat along with much, much more! You can follow DWM on Twitter HERE.

Hugh Bonneville on "The One Show"

Lily Cole joins Dr Who

The BBC have announced that model/actress Lily Cole is to star in Doctor Who, believed to the "Pirate" story currently filming with Hugh Bonneville. According to the official site:
Lily plays a mysterious creature that haunts a pirate ship. Sounds scary but Lily wasn't spooked, saying 'It is a great script and fun character and I'm glad to be involved!'

UK "newspaper" The Sun have published some pictures from filming on Doctor Who, currently taking place in Charlestown, Cornwall. This story, possibly episode three in Series 6, stars Hugh Bonneville and features all kinds of Pirate imagery.

Hugh Bonneville to star in Doctor Who

BAFTA nominated actor Hugh Bonneville is set to star in an upcoming episode of Doctor Who later this year. The actor, most recently praised for his role in ITV1's Downton Abbey, is to play a "pirate captain" and has already tweeted from the TARDIS set, whilst also confirming that a beard is in use.
